How do we do this? Exploring the ethics of society

Event description

"Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field. I'll meet you there."

– Rumi

The issues surrounding COVID threw up a whole host of dilemmas and choices for us as a country, and as we watch the struggles unfolding in the US over the interpretation of their constitution, it begs the question; in a democracy, who exactly gets to determine what's right and what's wrong and what should or shouldn't be allowed in today's changing society?

It can be challenging to determine the "right" answer to an ethical dilemma in our own lives, so how do we expect a nation to decide this for a whole group of people? And what does it mean when our decisions affect others?

Join Anthropologist Dr Monty Badami as we explore the murky world of morality and how society and our government can attempt to keep up.

This will be a provocative conversation, looking at our role as an individual through a political and societal lens, exploring the dilemmas we face, how we tackle them and the idea of a "good society".
